Idyllville

I've written an amusing script that spits out poetry - not good poetry but it could be confused for something written by a human being: Idyllville.

The Hawthorne Melody

Well, today's show day. Throat's a little sore - a lot of flus and colds flying about. The lineup is me, Mike and Matt. Past this point I'll be retiring a lot of songs and reworking others as I transition back to being The Hawthorne Melody or some other name, and possibly even add members to the band in a loose kind of way.

I've been at 999 views on my flickr account for an hour now. The anticipation is killifying me!

Kerouactacular

"We gotta go and never stop going till we get there."
"Where we going, man?"
"I don't know but we gotta go."

Thinking about it, I don't have to actually physically be at work, there's a ton of bad weather coming, and there's a lot of places I haven't been where I could be. Car, guitar, macbook, ipod, cell phone, a sturdy but comfortable backpack and my camera. If I get bored I can do rude caricatures in exchange for sluggings on sidewalks. The digital hobo, mad for life. Out on the road!

It would be great! Yeah! What do I say?

Lost Day

Practiced today with Matt and Mike and then slept, slept hard, for five hours, and it was dark outside and I felt like I was the only person left on the planet. Fortunately Panini Panini is open until late on Sundays so I bicycled over and made a little headway into "Word Freaks" with a V8 and a couple of small but bottomless cups of coffee. There's something very unpretentious about Panini Panini that's nice, but the coffee isn't anything special.

Help!

The only place in town I could find a DVD copy of The Beatles' Help! was Facets on Fullerton. The movie is out of print, Best Buy and Target don't sell it, Blockbuster and Hollywood don't carry it. On Amazon you can get a copy for the low low price of $134.90. You'd think that for a band as popular as The Beatles finding a copy of Help! would be easy, but then you'd have another think coming.

Blah.

Practices scheduled. Bills paid. iMac dual monitored. Web hosting consolidated. Emails winnowed. Glasses fixed. CDs from Cheapo ripped to computer. Song mixed down and posted. Contact made with Chicago 24hr comic event organizer. Tired. Long work day. Must sleep.

Sunday Evening

It's only been a day I've been back and Minneapolis already feels like a long ago trip. Spent the day fighting traffic getting errands done. Went to Michelle's birthday party. Bought some groceries, spent a little time on the elliptical machine. Got my broken eyeglass frames replaced.

Another Doodle

After a couple of hours I started remembering how to cartoon with ink - it's been a good eleven years since my last intense cartooning phase (which makes me how old?):
